The Time Lapse 360° de Martin

A view from the bridge installed to prevent damage to vegetation. The Perito Moreno glacier, which is still growing, and a rather interesting phenomenon occurs at regular intervals: the glacier front is faced with a strip of land, which has the effect of creating a plug in the two nearby lakes. However, the lake on the left (when looking at the glacier front) usually falls in the right. Out if it is clogged, the water level rises, thus pushing the ice cap. Water seeps under the ice, biting, digging and ending with a gallery, which expands fast enough, the passage of water. An arch of ice is then formed at the top with the remaining ice, which will take a few days to collapse... a spectacular event!

I spent 24 hours at the North Cape, and I took 24 panoramas, one every hour ! This was my most challenging accomplishment, especially in the morning, when we made only one night dotted... I actually brought my tent, and "slept" next to the camper-car... Here is a collection of 24 panoramas, where I recovered only area including the sun, to recompose all... I was in the "wrong" North Cape, North Cape "touristy", located on the cliff 307m high. (The "real" North Cape is actually Knivskjellodden, 1.5 km to the north: I planted the tent the night after!)

Blue sky and the wind? Northern Finistère direction for a small KAP session. I started this afternoon by shooting aerial peninsula Saint Marguerite. The wind is sustained between 10km/h and 15km/h, which is sufficient to raise a pod 700g, with a rokkaku 2m.

Panoramas 360° made by kite (KAP)
I hang my camera from a Kite, and I get it all, so I can get aerial unusual. Here is a small selection consists of three views.

Aerial view of Deauville, carried out with a kite, Delta guy. I first launched my Rokkaku, but I noticed that the remote did not work, once I put away all the equipment... I opted for the solution 'fast', namely Delta, whose implementation is faster than the Rokkaku...

The tip of the torch (Beg DORCHENN in Breton) is a natural peninsula barring the southeastern tip of the Bay of Audierne, in the municipality of Plomeur in Bigouden in Finistere, Brittany. This headland keeps the footprints of a human presence in the Mesolithic (Shelly clusters) and Middle Neolithic (dolmen). The lake is very popular with sports fans.

I went a little kite on the side of Pointe Saint Mathieu: Far West France... The wind was expected to be between 10 and 12 knots, but I suspect expected to be slightly below the reality, because I had a lot of difficulties to bring the kite: sore arm! I unpack equipment, install the camera on his car, make some adjustments aperture and shutter speed, then I prepare my kite. I look at the sky clear above my head, cloudy on the sides, then I look at the horizon... A white veil, foggy, fluffy on the sea, it is not a good sign at all! This means that within a few minutes, I would be soaked! Fortunately, the car is not far away, I pack all the equipment, and I wait a few minutes. Indeed, a good shower of rain mixed with hail is happy to interrupt my little output. 10 minutes later, blue sky, storm clouds are all gone. I therefore kite, but the clouds are gone, the tourists have returned... I pack the kite and walk a bit, not to have people in the legs... I did not want to take risks with the car and passersby! Especially as the wind was quite bizarre: the kite was doing well, but he had the tendency to lean to one side, gusts from the north pushed him to the ground! So I went to put me in a field not far from Saint Mathieu lighthouse like this, if everything fell, there was no damage! Here is the view taken about 80-85m high.

It is 4 o'clock in the morning. We leave with frontal lamps and a temperature 5c degrees below zero! How incredible the light is at that altitude. The lamps are soon useless. The sunrise takes place behind us slowly throwing light on the highest snow-capped summits. As soon as a sunbeam touches us, it warms us. Little by little we take off gloves, caps and sweatshirts. The climb is steady and slow along the moraine of Khumbu glacier. The tons of stones carried by the glacier make a mineral strip that we climb up. Cairns (handmade piles of stones to prepare the ground) are made with these stones.

Himalayan populations are highly religious. The cohabitation of the 2 great religions which are Hinduism and Buddhism is a perfect example of religious tolerance. Everywhere acts of devotion are part of the daily life of the inhabitants. The towns are filled with temples, sanctuaries and votive altars. Buddhist landscapes are strewed with prayer flags, prayer wheels and many walls which are used to pass on the prayers written on them to gods. As for chartens, they protect villages and passes from evil spirits. Religious fervour is no doubt one of the most typical cultural features of Himalayan societies.

It is a major place of Buddhism. In the past, the place was empty and favourable to meditation. Today, numerous lodges, a police-station and a phone-center surround the gompa. Situated on the road to the valley of Mount Everest it attracts a lot of tourists. It shelters about 50 lamas and novices. The monastery was builtin1923 on Lama Shanga Darjee?s initiative. An earthquake destroyed it in 1934 and a fire burnt it down in 1989. It was rebuilt bigger and more magnificent and it goes on getting bigger year after year!
